The Fuel Behind Operations That Can't Afford to Stop
From agriculture and hospitality to construction and manufacturing, propane is the fuel operators lean on when downtime is not an option. It is stored as a liquid and delivered as a gas, so you get consistent heat and power on your schedule instead of the grid’s.
Whether you’re heating a warehouse or barn, drying crops, or running a commercial kitchen through the dinner rush, propane gives you a lower-emission alternative to diesel and electricity, with fewer interruptions and more control over the details that keep an operation moving.
Why Business Owners Choose Propane — and Why They Choose Avenir
Propane keeps you off the grid and in control. But fuel is only half the equation — who delivers it, and how reliably, is what actually protects your operation. That’s where Avenir comes in.
- Off-grid independence. Your operations keep running during power outages, when electric-dependent competitors can't.
- A dedicated route and delivery plan built around your usage, not a generic schedule, so you're never guessing when your next fill is coming.
- Backed by 400+ five-star Google reviews, and more 5-star reviews than any other propane company in Canada last year. Businesses like yours trust us to show up.
- One call resolves it. A local team and 24/7 emergency response mean the person who picked Avenir doesn't have to explain a supply failure to their boss.
Built for Your Industry, Not a Generic Commercial Propane Tank
Every industry runs on a different margin for error. Avenir’s delivery plans are built around your risk tolerance — not a one-size-fits-all schedule.

Agriculture & Farming
Precision-controlled heat for greenhouses and barns, delivered on a schedule that protects your crop and your livestock.
Reliable crop drying — because a missed fill during harvest isn't a minor inconvenience.
Dependable fuel for irrigation pumps and backup power when timing is everything.

Oil & Gas
Built for remote sites where the grid isn't an option and a missed delivery means a shut-in.
Consistent supply for space heating, instrumentation, and line heaters in the field.
Backup power via propane generators for the equipment you can't afford to lose.

Industrial & Manufacturing
Propane forklifts that keep indoor air cleaner without sacrificing uptime. Longer runtime between refuels means less time managing fuel and more time running the floor. Efficient heat processes and space heating sized for large-facility demands.

Construction & Job Sites
Temporary heat that keeps crews working through winter instead of waiting it out.
Off-grid power from propane generators, so a remote site is never a stalled site.
Delivery scheduled around your build timeline — not the other way around.

Hospitality & Food Service
Commercial ranges and fryers with instant, consistent heat during your busiest service. Patio heaters that stretch your outdoor season and your revenue with it. Backup generators that keep the kitchen open when the power doesn't cooperate.
Propane Safety Standards That Protect Your Business
At Avenir Energy, safe propane handling is the standard your business gets judged on if something goes wrong. Propane is one of the safest fuels available when the people handling it know what they are doing, which is why we recommend that only certified propane technicians service your appliances and tanks. Never attempt repairs yourself. Call Avenir and let one of our technicians assess the situation.
Detecting a Propane Leak
Propane is treated with mercaptan, giving it a distinct “rotten egg” smell so a leak is never a silent risk. If you notice that smell, here’s exactly what to do:
Don’t Panic
Leave the area immediately in an orderly manner if you suspect a propane leak.

Shut Off the Propane Supply
Turn off the tank supply by turning the handwheel clockwise (to the right) as far as possible unless the leak appears to be coming from that area.
Avoid Flames, Sparks and Electricity
Extinguish flames and do not use lights, appliances or phones.
Call for Help
Contact the fire department or dial 911 from a safe distance (at least 20 ft from the source of the leak).
Do not re-enter the area until it is deemed safe. Contact Avenir Energy to have a technician turn the propane back on to check and re-light your appliances.
Storm Safety
Before the Storm
Clear debris around your tank so severe weather does not put your supply, or your operation, at risk.
After the Storm
Inspect your tank and appliances for damage, and keep a clear path to your tanks through the winter months so nothing slows down a delivery when you need one.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will a 500 or 1,000 gallon propane tank last?
That depends on your appliances and your season, not on the tank alone. A 500 gallon tank holds 1,514 L and suits temporary heat, cooking and lighter agricultural use. A 1,000 gallon tank holds 3,028 L and runs larger commercial appliances and high-BTU farm operations. A 2,000 gallon tank holds 6,435 L and is built for industrial sites and crop drying. We size the tank against your real usage instead of guessing from square footage.
What size propane tank does my business need?
Most commercial sites land on a 500, 1,000 or 2,000 gallon tank, in horizontal or vertical format depending on the space you have. Vertical tanks suit tight yards and sites where footprint matters. Your branch will size it against your appliances, your peak season and your delivery access. See the full range on our commercial propane tank sizes page.
How much does commercial propane cost?
Commercial propane is priced per litre, and the rate moves with your volume, your region and the season. Any single number published on a website is wrong within a month, so we quote against your actual usage instead. Ask for a commercial quote and you get a per-litre price for your site.
How often will you deliver, and do I have to watch my own tank levels?
You do not have to watch it. We install wireless tank monitors that report your levels to us in real time, then schedule refills around your usage, your appliances and the weather forecast. You can see the same levels through the My Account portal or the Nee-Vo Otodata app, and set your own alerts. If you would rather control the schedule, order by request. We recommend ordering at 30 percent, and refills are normally scheduled within 7 to 10 days.
Do you deliver to remote and off-grid sites?
Avenir runs branches from Vancouver Island to Cape Breton and as far north as Yellowknife, and a good share of our commercial work is on sites the grid does not reach: mining and forestry camps, remote oil and gas facilities, and farms well outside town. Find your closest branch to confirm coverage for your site.
Can I switch to Avenir if I already have a propane supplier?
Most commercial accounts move at renewal or when their current agreement allows it. If the tank on your site belongs to another supplier, we can install an Avenir tank in its place. Talk to your local branch before your renewal date so the change-over is scheduled and your supply is not interrupted.
